Event ticketing on WordPress is dominated by a few big plugins that gate the basics behind expensive add-ons and bury simple RSVP-and-check-in under calendars you don’t need. The most-installed free option carries a wall of one- and two-star reviews: people just want to take a registration and scan a ticket at the door, and end up paying for three extensions to do it.
Each attendee gets a PDF ticket with a unique QR code, emailed automatically on registration.
A logged-in staff member scans the QR with a phone to mark the attendee present. The public only ever sees “valid ticket”.
Set a capacity and the form shows seats-left and closes automatically when full.
See who’s registered and who’s checked in, and export the whole list to CSV.
Each event page shows the date, the venue with a map link and the price above your description, then the registration card; block themes get a proper event template. [rs_events] lists what's coming up anywhere.
Tickets and QR codes are generated on your server. Nothing phones home.

Event Tickets Pro adds paid ticketing: set a price on an event, take the money through the WooCommerce checkout you already run, and QR tickets are issued and emailed only once the order is paid. It also adds multiple ticket types: General, VIP, Early bird and so on, each with its own price and its own capacity, selling out independently of each other. Free RSVP events keep working exactly as they do now; pricing is opt-in, per event, and there is no per-ticket revenue share.
The plugin is free. Pro adds paid ticketing and multiple ticket types. One licence, one payment, no per-ticket cut.
Event Tickets Pro is on sale today, and the download includes the free plugin it builds on. The free plugin is also heading to the WordPress.org directory on its own.
