Chart Rush: Privacy Policy

The short version

Chart Rush has no accounts of its own. Connecting Spotify is optional, and the game works fully without it.

What the app stores on your device

• A random player id, generated on first launch, so two phones can find each other in an online game. It is not linked to your identity.
• The name you type for the table, your board size and night length, your practice streak and whether you own the Host unlock.
• If you connect Spotify, the access token is kept on your device only.

Deleting the app deletes all of it.

What leaves your device

• Online games. Your player id, the name you chose, the survey board and scores go to Google Firebase Realtime Database so the other phone can play along.
• Spotify, if you connect it. We request only user-read-private and user-top-read, enough to read your market and your top artists so boards can be built from music you actually listen to. We never see your Spotify password. We do not post anything, change anything, or read your playlists.
• Practice leaderboards. If you connect Spotify, your display name and practice scores are stored so the board can rank runs.
• Song previews and artwork are fetched from Spotify and the public iTunes Search API.

Microphone

During a face-off the app listens so you can shout the song title, using your device's own speech recognition. Audio is turned into text on your device by the operating system. We do not record, store, or upload audio. The microphone is only active during a guessing round.

What we do not do

No ads, no ad identifiers, no tracking, no location, no contacts, no photos. We do not sell data.

Disconnecting Spotify

Remove the app's access any time at spotify.com/account/apps ↗. The game keeps working from its built-in catalog.
