We build apps, ship SaaS, and publish research — for clients and for ourselves.
Rebel Studios Software is an independent software studio founded by Patrick Galyen. We specialize in native Android development, full-stack web applications, and applied AI research — with a focus on shipping real products, not slide decks.
Every project in our portfolio is something we built and shipped: apps live on Google Play, SaaS platforms in production, and open-source research like Vigilo for on-device network anomaly detection.
Kotlin, Jetpack Compose, Firebase, CameraX, FCM — from prototype to Google Play submission.
Next.js, TypeScript, Prisma, Stripe, AI integration, and cloud deployment on Railway or Vercel.
IoT anomaly detection with Mamba-2 SSMs and on-device inference.
We are a small studio, which means the person who scopes your project is the person who builds it. There is no account manager relaying requirements to an offshore team you never meet. That keeps communication direct and the work honest — we would rather show you something running than describe something on a slide.
We start by understanding the actual problem — who it is for, what “done” looks like, and what the real constraints are — then agree on a concrete plan and price before writing code.
You see working software early and often, not a big reveal at the end. Shipping a rough version that works beats polishing something that never launches — a principle we write about and live by.
We handle the unglamorous last mile — store submission, deployment, monitoring, and the fixes that follow. Every product in our portfolio is one we took all the way to real users.
A few things we have designed, built, and shipped end to end: TradeGuard Pro, a production SaaS for construction subcontractor compliance; Gate402, an x402 payment gateway that lets AI agents pay for APIs per call; Phuzzles, a photo-puzzle messaging app on Google Play; and Vigilo, open-source on-device IoT anomaly detection. Browse the full website and app portfolios, or read the blog where we write up how the hard parts actually work.
Patrick is a software engineer and independent researcher. He builds the products showcased in this portfolio and writes the technical articles on our blog — from step-by-step how-to guides to research on hybrid Mamba-2 architectures.
His work spans shipped consumer apps, B2B SaaS for construction compliance, and open-source security research including Vigilo (v0.1.0 prototype for on-device network anomaly detection).
