Each side gets a king and eight knights. No pawns, no bishops, rooks, or queens. Just sixteen L-shaped jumps per side and one king to protect. It sounds like a joke until you play it: there are no pawn walls to hide behind and no open files to hold, so threats arrive from squares you were not looking at.
