Last updated 22 September 2026 (version 1.7.0, which added online races)
Rat Race has no accounts, no sign-in, no analytics and no ads. Playing against the computer sends nothing anywhere. If you choose to race other people online, the name you pick and your rat's moves go to our race server so the other players can see them, and nothing is kept once the race is over apart from short server logs.
All of it lives in the app's own storage on your device. Deleting the app deletes all of it. None of it is backed up to us.
These travel over an encrypted connection (wss) to our race server, which is hosted on Railway. The server keeps rooms in memory and forgets them when the race ends. It writes short operational log lines (a room was created, a player joined), and those can include the name you chose and the room code; they are held by the hosting provider on its normal log schedule and we don't copy them anywhere else. We never ask for your real name, email, location or any device identifier, and nothing is sold or shared with anyone.
Racing against the computer, which is most of the game, sends nothing at all.
Internet, used only for online races. Vibration, for the short buzz when you sprint or finish a race; you can turn it off in Settings. No location, no camera, no microphone, no contacts, no photos, no advertising id.
Rat Race is suitable for all ages. It collects no personal information; the only thing an online race sends is a name you make up, and you can race without ever going online.
If a future version adds anything else that leaves the device, such as ads or leaderboards, this page will be updated before that version ships, and the change will be listed in the store release notes.
